It’s easy to get wrapped up into the latest cable series or sporting contest on TV, and with all the rain we get used to a routine of eating out and staying in. Our children play on their iPhones and Playstations and we aren’t spending enough time together as families. Let’s change all that by spending some time doing memorable, fun activities together this spring and summer.

LaFarge Lake & Town Centre Park

Spring and Summer are the perfect times to experience one of Coquitlam’s most popular destinations, for free! Bring the kids to the play area and the spray park, go fishing, bike riding or just take that leisurely stroll. Bring a frisby for a game of Ultimate, organize a community Baseball team and play a game of roller hockey if you know how to skate. The opportunities are endless and the park is beautiful and serine. For those of you who are even more daring, try the off road mountain biking or skateboard park.

Eagle Quest Golf Course with Driving Range & Mini Golf

Golfing doesn’t have to be expensive or exclusive. Bring a family of four to Eagle Quest for Mini Golf at half the price of seeing a movie. Want to do more than putt? The driving range offers plenty of fun and you can check out special group promotions on Eagle Quest’s site. Be competitive, work as a team and spend time together outdoors while learning a new skill. If golfing catches on, there are a number of summer camp options available for the kids!

VIP Movie Experience At Cineplex Silvercity Coquitlam

Seeing a movie might feel routine, but you can shake up the norm with a number of premium services at Cineplex’s Coquitlam theatre. VIP cinemas offer an adult experience more than a family one, but with many movies you can enjoy premium couch-like seating and seat to seat service as a whole family. There’s also D-BOX for an enhance, ride-like moving theatrical experience and AVX reserved seating so you don’t get stuck waiting in line. These premium services come at a premium price, but visit the theatre on Tuesday (book your tickets online early) and you’ll find it much more affordable. Also, come in to Greenline for a New Patient Exam & Cleaning and receive a movie night for two adults absolutely free. As always, some terms and conditions apply, so contact us for more details.

Don’t like the idea of spending the evening in a movie theatre? Get more active and stretch your legs with a family skate at Planet Ice. You don’t have to be part of a hockey league to enjoy a ‘Stick and Puck’ skate for the whole family or a general, affordable skate for less than $4 per person. Planet Ice even offers rentals if you don’t have your own pair of skates, just be sure to check out their site for a comprehensive schedule and price guide.

Evergreen Cultural Centre

The list of cultural activities at the Evergreen Cultural Centre is too long to list here, but if you’re looking for an educational, rewarding day (or evening) out with your family you can find an almost endless list of things to do. See a play at the Firehall theatre, visit an art exhibit or attend a program to make your own art. Pre-register now for one of several family day events and keep the whole family together. You’ll make a mountain of memories and learn a lot along the way. Sure, the teenagers in your brood might not love the idea, but once they jump in they won’t regret it and neither will you. Check out their site for a full list of events and programs.
